Letter U5 terms in the glossary

Marketing, e-commerce and advertising terms starting with the letter U. Each one explained in plain language, with links to related terms.

Up-selling

A sales strategy that involves offering a customer a more advanced or more expensive product or service than the one they originally planned to buy.

Increases cart value and can build longer customer relationships - provided the offer genuinely matches their needs and isn't just a push toward a higher price.

URLUniform Resource Locator

A unique address pointing to a specific page on the internet. Its structure and readability affect how easily a user and a search engine understand what a given subpage is about.

A short, understandable address with a keyword reflecting the content works better than a long string of parameters and identifiers.

Usability

A key element of UX and SEO - sites that are easy to use and understand gain greater user trust and perform better in search results.

An intuitive interface, readable typography, and a logical arrangement of elements make a visitor feel comfortable and more willing to stay on the site longer.

UXUser Experience

The overall impression a user takes away from using a site - covers loading speed, ease of use, accessibility, and content quality.

A better user experience increases the chance of a return visit and a higher conversion rate - which is why UX and SEO in practice pull in the same direction.

UX Audit

An analysis of the user experience: structure, navigation, content, and accessibility. It answers the question of where exactly a visitor stops understanding what to do next.

It combines an expert review with analytics data, and in a fuller version, tests with real users too. The result is a list of changes ranked by impact on conversion.
