Letter T4 terms in the glossary

Marketing, e-commerce and advertising terms starting with the letter T. Each one explained in plain language, with links to related terms.

TACoSTotal Advertising Cost of Sales

A metric used on Amazon that measures the impact of advertising spend on total sales revenue - not only the revenue generated directly by ads.

Formula: TACoS = (advertising cost / total sales revenue) × 100%. Unlike ACoS, it also accounts for organic sales, unsupported by advertising.

A lower TACoS at a constant spending level suggests that advertising is also driving organic sales - a more favorable long-term scenario than sales dependent solely on current campaigns.

Thin content

A page containing too little content, or content copied from another page - Google treats such pages as low-value for the user.

The result is often weaker rankings for the entire domain, not just that specific subpage - which is why thin content is worth expanding or removing from the index.

TITLE

An HTML tag containing the page title, displayed in search results and on the browser tab - one of the first elements a user sees in the SERP.

It should reflect the page's content and encourage clicks, while also containing the keyword the page is meant to rank for.

TrustRank

A concept referring to the level of trust a search algorithm places in a given site when determining its position in results.

A high level of trust - built up through, among other things, valuable inbound links and a long, stable domain history - translates into better visibility and higher conversion from organic traffic.
