HTTP Scanner

Check the HTTP status of any page. Spot redirect or loading speed issues using different User-Agents.

HTTP status codes

  • 200 OKPage works

    The page loaded correctly.

  • 301Moved permanently

Use it when changing an address, migrating or merging pages.

  • 302 / 307Moved temporarily

Useful during testing or promotions, but they do not pass SEO value.

  • 404Page not found

Restore the page, set up a 301 redirect or fix the link.

  • 410Deliberately removed

The server states clearly that the page will not come back and has no new address configured.

  • 500Internal server error

A problem occurred while connecting to the server. Check the server logs and plugins.

Best practices

  • Avoid redirect chains. Every redirect adds loading time.
  • Use one type of redirect in a chain - do not mix 301 with 302.
  • Send 404 addresses that have traffic and links to the closest match, not to the home page.

Common mistakes

  • Redirect chains longer than 3 URL hops - they slow down page loading and make it harder for crawlers and bots to scan the site.
  • 302 redirects between domains - the new address may never make it into the Google index.
  • Redirecting to the home page instead of similar content - it hurts topical authority. From an SEO point of view, this is a serious mistake.
  • Setting up redirects in JavaScript and meta refresh instead of server rules.
